The Loch Ness monster is probably a good example. Even though all the experts seem to concur that there is not sufficient food supply for a beast that size and that there would need to be a breeding population and therefore be seen more often, the legend won't die. An industry and a trademark have been created. It has less to do with the Loch Ness and more to do with the "possibility" it exists. Nope, legends dont die so long as a few folks find the conjecture stimulating and romantic.

Concerning the Lock Ness Monster, a brand has sort of been established. As long as they can capitalize on it, they will.
