Since I grew up in a famous haunted house, I really didn't know a time I didn't have an encounter, but the earliest one that sticks out in my mind was when I was about 3 or 4. I was playing on the floor next to a table with a lamp on it and an ashtray. My mother was sitting in a chair nearby reading as usually. I was playing with my dolls on the floor and looked up at my mom as she read and her cigarette resting in the ashtray flicked itself up into the air and landed about maybe 6-8 feet away. My mother looked over at the ashtray for her cigarette and smiled and winked and said, "Oh, it did it again, hmm? I don't think they like me smoking." Her reaction made it seem quite normal. I was so young I didn't understand physics. I figured that was a fun thing that cigarettes tended to do on their own. I have to admit, to this day if I see a cigarette in an ashtray, I get a weird feeling in my stomach like it might fly on its own.

When I was a little girl and spending the night as a friend's house, I woke up in the middle of the night to see a white ghosts of a woman in the bedroom doorway. That scared the crap out of me and needless to say, I didn't get any sleep after that. The next day after I told her my story, she said that they have seen her too. After that I was curious but didn't really do anything about it until a couple of years ago.
