Sneak Peek Tuesday - Ghost Hunters/Haven

The team is walking down a long dark hallway while the k2 meter keeps going off in spurts, but as they get closer to it, it starts going crazy. Amy becomes very weary of turning the corner to see what’s to her right. She builds her confidence and then calls Adam over after she thought something was standing in front of a window, but then it vanished. She sends Adam down to check it out to see how tall something would need to be to block the window. Be sure to watch the clip and tune in on Wednesday 9/8c to see if they’re able to see anything beyond the window.

Special guest star Cristian de la Fuente (Dancing With The Stars) plays a straight laced banker who leads a double life as a serial killer. He has to fight the urge within to wrestle with his own self perception while also looking to kill others. Watch the clip and tune in this Friday at 10/9c on Syfy to see which side of himself takes control, the banker, or the man pointing the gun!

GS Question of the Week

Who was Captain Black Bartelmy?

Old Tooele Hospital

You may be already familiar with the Old Tooele Hospital as Ghost Adventures performed an investigation there. But is this hospital to fall in line with others like Waverly Hills and Linda Vista? It all began in 1873. Samuel F. Lee constructed a home for he and his family to live in Tooele, Utah. After living there for forty years, the Lee family moved out in 1913. The structure, then, was turned in to a home for the elderly. Many locals dubbed it the “County Poor House”. It was later seen for its hospital potential.

With a few minor adjustments, the new hospital opened in 1953 for the Tooele Army Depot. It provided better accommodations for visitors including individual restrooms and a morgue as the old one had only but a designated room to hold the bodies until a local mortuary could pick them up. After the new state-of-the-art hospital was built in the county and the Old Tooele Hospital reverted back to an elderly home (This portion of the history is rather conflicting. I've found two different versions that are too similar to tell at this point which one is correct. I welcome any clarification from anyone who knows or has visited this location). While Ghost Adventures may have reintroduced Old Tooele Hospital to the public, it did initially achieve fame as the film site for two movies: The Fastest Indian and Stephen King’s The Stand. Then, officially closing in 2001 and remained empty until 2006. Today, it is the site of the Asylum 49 haunted attraction every year and numerous ghost hunts.

Is it haunted? Many believe so. Of those who have investigated the location, evidence collected included pictures and videos of orbs, shadows, mist, apparitions, and various other unidentifiable anomalies. Who could be haunting the hospital? There are a few candidates. Supposedly, there is a former nurse named “Maria” who guards a spiritual portal and warns the recently deceased to stay away from it. Another entity is believed to be a former patient named “Wes”. In life, he suffered from Alzheimer’s Disease. Story goes the confusion he struggled with from his condition latched on in to his afterlife. He is known to stay close to his room and the outside hallway. He is also known to have a friend of a darker nature that tags along with him.

There are supposedly tons more spirits that haunt the hospital including that of Samuel F. Lee who roams the location with his young son Thomas. The boy is believed to be between the ages of six and eight and is known to be playful. He enjoys playing pranks on visitors.

Public ghost hunts are available to those who choose to pay for the privilege. Go to the website http://www.asylum49.com for more details. However, I suggest you DO NOT trespass on to the property as you will be arrested and prosecuted.

Sneak Peek Tuesday - Ghost Hunters/Haven

The team is back at it, searching through haunted locations, trying to pick up some EMF frequency, and making contact with the paranormal. In the sneak peek, the team is investigating a house after the parents of a frightened girl have requested the Ghost Hunters to try and make contact with whatever or whomever is causing the disturbance. As they’re trying to make contact Steve sees the EMF rating make a substantial jump from 0.5 to 1.9 and holding. They’re reading the indicator that is close to them and they start to feel an energy moving, as the other two EMF readers further away from them are simply staying at the base reading. Be sure to watch the clip and tune in on Wednesday at 9/8c to see if they’re able to see what keeps appearing to the terrified girl that lives there.

Audrey and Nathan pick a lock to a house in search of Daniel. All the others they’ve searched have been unlocked, so why did they need to use a different tactic to get this particular one ajar? Once inside, with only flashlights for visibility, Audrey finds some photographs on the refrigerator that may be of some help. They hear what sounds like a leak, so they follow it to a room with an overflowing bath tub. Watch the clip and tune in this Friday at 10/9c on Syfy to see what lays inside!

GS Question of the Week

Who first described the unexplained phenomena known as Flicker-Spirits or Flicker-Guides?

Where is Satan's House?

Located in Yale, Oklahoma, “Satan’s House” was once the old Norfolk school. Supposedly, two children found themselves trapped in the basement’s boiler room when the school burned down. Both kids died in the fire and now, allegedly, haunt the location. There are also rumors of Satan worshiping taking place in the school sometime after the fire (hence the name).

This legend has its share of variations. On the Strangeusa website, it states an old man died tilling his field nearby the school (no mention of any children dying). Shadowlands reported very much the same but amended the listing in 2007. According to their sources, “Satan’s House” was an old oil refinery not a school and a 5 year old girl died trying to rescue her brother’s bike from a sludge pit. The area is or was known for its oil refineries especially during the oil boom and an Oklahoman group called Sooner Paranormal of Oklahoma did investigate an abandoned one stating it to be the actual “Satan’s House”.

I’m not totally convinced it’s the same place. Most of those familiar with the legend says its a school. Although, some people have doubts that even the school is the actual “Satan’s House”. Those who have visited the location have reported little to no evidence of Satan worshiping at the school. One visitor posted their story and photos on the urban exploration website Underground Ozarks. They mentioned seeing an abandoned house a few hundred feet from the school. Could it be the actual “Satan’s House”?

Those interested in this legend may not have much longer to investigate its origins…or at least the old school’s part in it. Those who live in the area say a lot of the brush and trees had been cleared out, making it easier to find. However, there are rumors the ruins are being torn down to make room for a new oil refinery or perhaps some other business. I believe the property is fenced in and while there may or may not be any "No Trespassing" signs I don't recommend hopping the fence to check it out unless you are able to obtain proper permission from whomever owns the property.

Paul then claims he hears a conversation among multiple people. Watch the clip and be sure to tune in on Wednesday at 9/8c on Syfy to see the Summer Finale and if they can break down exactly who might be tip-toeing among them!

In the summer finale episode, Ashley Cowie looks to see how the work and balance of Freemason architecture may be evident in the nation’s capital, Washington D.C. Meanwhile, in the next episode of Legend Quest, the team sees multiple signs that would lead them to believe that a specific fountain could be the place of Merlin’s tomb that holds treasures. They know it’s going to be easy to get lost in the forest they’re about to enter, so they must stick together.
